"Cows"
In the spring of 2003 we began getting the first daughters from 17J into production with their calves.  Over the years we have used a good sampling of them within our herd with very good results. Many of his females have sold into registered and commercial programs, and quite a few have been shown.  His daughters grow to moderate size, flesh easy, raise a good calf, and the majority have some pigmentation.  Not all of them have perfect udders, but the majority have very functional udders, depending on the dams genetic contribution.  This is a good sample of what they look like.
These are some Chunk daughters who went into production.

(Chunk sired close to 50 daughters)
Production:

We chose daughters out of good productive cows and we got good productive females.  In the future, we will continue to use 17J daughters in our program through AI.  They will be crossed with our other herd bulls who have good calving ease EPD's, in hopes to tone down what 17J's sire contributed in calving ease and birth weight. One of Chunks daughters made Dam of Distinction in a very strict culling herd.  We now own her.

Udders:

The udders shown here are udders on first calf heifers out of 17J.  Most of them are level with good attachment and teat size.  After a couple of calves we have seen the milk flow and bag size increase.  We don't think 17J is an a consistent udder improver, but mixed with the right genetic combination he produces a very nice functional udder with plenty of milk the majority of the time.  We think the proof is in the pictures.
