"Chunk's"
Chunk's Heifers

Look for his girls and their offspring in
shows and sales
Initially, we were concerned when Harvey's birth weight EPD jumped dramatically due to his sire, but after 90 calves recorded with the AHA his offspring have averaged under breed average.  This is not to say we did not have a few big calves from chunk, but his average actual weights stayed in the 80's.  Hardly worth mentioning when you consider many "proven" sires, with a lower BW EPD then Chunks, have sired numerous 100 lb plus calves within the first couple of crops.  Moreover, Chunk did this on a group of unproven BW females to boot!  Harvey was a "calving ease" sire for us. He had two minor calving problems in over 90 calves.  One was a first time heifer who's calf had one foreleg back on presentation (a minor assist by moving the leg and she promptly spit out the 70 lb calf). The other was a breach of a second time calver (74lb calf minor assist) and can not be considered his fault.  We are very pleased with Harvey's calf crops, the daughters we have placed in production, and the sons who's calves we have witnessed working in other registered and commercial programs.
Chunk's Bulls

  Sometimes a picture
  can say it all!
Easy keeping, naturally muscled, and docile is the best way to describe Chunk's male offspring. We have used several of his son's with outstanding results.
Although Chunk's heifers aren't taking top spot in the show arena, the judges are saying things like:  "The most feminine heifer in the class", or "Extremely broody looking heifer", or "The kind of heifer you want to use in a breed program" and "By the looks of her calf, this cow will definitely out-produce herself".  These are the things that we like to hear!  Harvey is puts depth, femininity, and rib into his heifer calves.  We are put a select group of these contemporary daughters to work in our herd with great results.  As of 2014, some daughters are still in production.
